2024 | A Year in Review
Dear Business Partners,
The year 2024 was an intense yet very successful year for us – both in terms of new transactions and supporting our portfolio. We are pleased to inform you that we were able to close four new platform investments in 2024. Additionally, at the end of the year, we successfully signed a fifth platform transaction.
Below, we would like to briefly introduce the completed transactions:
------------------ January 2024 ----------------------
IMT
IMT, headquartered in Berlin, specializes in motivational and activation coaching and offers labor market integration courses for long-term unemployed individuals and migrants. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, IMT swiftly transitioned from an in-person to a predominantly online business model. The majority of its revenues are now generated online or through telephone coaching.
The company makes a significant social contribution by reintegrating long-term unemployed individuals into the labor market and helping its clients regain structure and purpose in life.
The key strategic initiatives focus on expanding the course offerings and increasing regional market penetration – both organically and through synergistic acquisitions.
------------------ February 2024 ----------------------
TENNIS-POINT
In early February 2024, an investor consortium led by Orlando Capital V successfully completed the acquisition of Tennis-Point Group following a highly intensive six-week purchase process. Tennis-Point is the leading omnichannel specialty retailer for racket sports in Europe, operating numerous online shops across the continent as well as over 30 brick-and-mortar specialty stores. The company recently reported annual revenues exceeding EUR 150 million. The existing management team, including founder Christian Miele, will remain onboard to drive the continued successful development of the company.
------------------- July 2024 ---------------------------
ILLIG
At the end of July 2024, Orlando Capital V acquired ILLIG Group, a global leader in the manufacturing of thermoforming and packaging machines, particularly for the food industry. Through significant restructuring and realignment as part of the acquisition, ILLIG—known for its innovative and sustainable packaging solutions—will further strengthen its focus on technology leadership, international sales, and service business. Additional investments are planned to ensure the company’s long-term competitiveness and to drive further growth.
------------------ September 2024 ----------------------
SWEDPAPER
In September 2024, Orlando Capital V completed the acquisition of SwedPaper AB, a leading European manufacturer of white sack and kraft paper. The company serves customers in the retail, food, and construction industries across more than 30 countries worldwide. With annual revenues exceeding EUR 68 million in 2023, SwedPaper represents a strategically important addition. The acquisition lays the foundation for further growth, expansion of the product portfolio, and enhancement of customer service to ensure long-term success.
OUTLOOK 2025
The European, and particularly the German economy continues to face various headwinds. Combined with relatively weak financing conditions, this could lead to a slightly reduced deal flow in the traditional buyout segment. Nevertheless, we continue to expect a strong deal flow in our deep-value/complex buyout segment and are therefore very optimistic about maintaining the attractive investment pace from 2024.
Below, we would like to outline our key search criteria once again:
Complex buyout situations in the DACH and Nordic regions.
Both traditional business-to-business manufacturing companies as well as companies from the service or online sectors.
Complexities in the form of succession situations or corporate spin-offs, embedded in challenging economic or structural circumstances.
Revenues of more than 100 million EUR and typically an EBITDA of more than 7-10 million EUR. Acquisitions for existing portfolio companies may also have lower revenues.
Orlando Capital V is characterized by very short decision-making processes and is known for its high transaction security.
Orlando Capital V, managed by Orlando Capital GmbH, has equity of 255 million EUR and, together with co-investment capacities from investors, can also execute transactions of over 200 million EUR.
We would like to sincerely thank you for your continued trust in our work, your interest, and the excellent collaboration. We look forward to a successful and exciting year with you!
With warm regards and best wishes for the new year,
